Featured Guests Round Two

TCAF is excited to share our second round of featured guests attending TCAF 2022: Jenn Woodall, Anoosha Syed, Benjamin Marra, Terry Dodson, and Akane Torikai!
Jenn Woodall is an award-winning cartoonist and illustrator who lives in Toronto, Ontario. She grew up in Brampton, where she read comics and manga and scrounged Chinatown for bootleg anime VHS tapes as well as colourful clothes. She moved to Toronto for university, where she studied fashion design, followed by illustration at OCAD University. She self-publishes her own comics and zines and also has her work distributed and published by Silver Sprocket. Her first OGN, Space Trash, will be released in September by Oni Press.
Jenn is also the creator of one of TCAF's official posters for 2022.
Anoosha Syed is a Pakistani-Canadian illustrator based in Toronto. She has a passion for creating cute characters with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion, and has illustrated many best-loved books for children. She is the illustrator of Bilal Cooks Daal by Aisha Saeed, Bug Girl and Bug Girl: Fury on the Dance Floor, as well as I Am Perfectly Designed, written by Karamo Brown, and the Monster and Boy chapter book series, written by Hannah Barnaby.
Benjamin Marra is the author of several acclaimed graphic novels from Fantagraphics, including Terror Assaulter (O.M.W.O.T.), Night Business, and American Blood. He received a B.F.A. in Illustration from Syracuse University; studied in Florence, Italy; and earned his M.F.A. degree in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts. He lives in Montreal.
Oregon-based Terry Dodson is known for his work on Harley Quinn, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, and the X-Men. His clients include Disney Studios, Lucasfilm, Riot Games, Hasbro, Mattel, DC Entertainment, Warner Brothers, ESPN, Electronic Arts, Hanna-Barbara, Marvel Entertainment, Sideshow Collectibles, Epic Games, and many more. Terry is currently working on the graphic novel series ADVENTUREMAN with Matt Fraction, and co-creator of Red One with Xavier Dorison, and Songes with Denis-Pierre Filippi. Torikai was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1981. In 2004, she made her manga debut in the monthly magazine Bessatsu Shojo Friend DX Juliet. Her first serialized work in a young men’s magazine was Ohayou Okaeri, which was published in Morning Two. This was followed by Sensei’s Pious Lie, which drew widespread attention for its focus on the theme of sexual violence. In addition, Onna no Ie, a series about two sisters who must live under one roof, made the list for Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga is Amazing!) in the women’s category, while Jigoku no Girlfriend, a story about three women made housemates by chance, was adapted into a live-action TV show. Her latest ongoing series, Saturn Return, which is published weekly in Big Comic Spirits magazine, is a mystery that revolves around suicide and loss.
