The programming events will have live premieres on our YouTube Channel, with some of the featured speakers there to interact and answer your burning questions! Recordings will also be available for viewing after the festival.

Katherine Battersby (Cranky Chicken) and Joanna Cacao (The Secret of the Ravens) share their creative processes and inspirations for creating books for young readers live in a TCAF 2024 co-presentation with the Canadian Children’s Book Week 2024.

Write To Draw, Draw To Write: Johnnie Christmas Spotlight

TCAF 2024 featured guest and New York Times bestselling graphic novelist Johnnie Christmas (Gamerville) in conversation with TCAF programmer and celebrated cartoonist Ho Che Anderson (Godhead) about working with Margaret Atwood and William Gibson, his title Sheltered, and kids’ books Swim Team and the upcoming Gamerville.

Charlie And Jane: Paige Braddock Spotlight 

Professor, cartoonist and artist Christian Giroux (The Absentee) in conversation with Paige Braddock, Eisner-nominated cartoonist,  whose ground-breaking comic strip 'Jane's World' (which began in the early 1990s), was the first comic featuring a lesbian protagonist to receive online distribution by a national media syndicate in the U.S., and the Chief Creative Officer at Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates. Featured in the Emmy Award winning documentary "Who Are You Charlie Brown?" (2021).

Designer, author, editor, and a professor at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Michael Dooley shares an in-depth analysis of the history and controversies surrounding comics in American art museums, based on his extensive firsthand knowledge and experience.

Join Silver Sprocket's managing editor Ari Yarwood and production designer Carina Taylor in conversation with artists Kimberly Wang (Of Thunder & Lightning) and Cam Marshall (Matchmaker) as they cover topics like indie comics publishing, building an artistic career, and their favorite influences. Moderated by Silver Sprocket production manager Joan Zahra Dark.
