The Toronto Comic Arts Festival is happy to announce that it has hired Amie Wright as its new Executive Director.

Amie Wright is a comics librarian and public historian based in Ontario who has been organizing comics programming in Canada and the United States since 2013. Amie has created in-person and virtual programming for New York Comic Con, San Diego Comic Con, the American and Ontario Library Associations, and TCAF.  Amie is the former Manager of School Outreach / MyLibraryNYC at the New York Public Library (NYPL) and the former inaugural President of the Graphic Novels and Comics Round Table (GNCRT) of the American Library Association (ALA). A current Public History PhD Candidate at Carleton University (Ottawa) researching the history of comics censorship in Canada, Amie also teaches a comics course in the Department of History at Carleton. On taking over the Executive Director position from Miles Baker, Amie has said, "Miles has been with TCAF and helped nurture and grow the show for more than a decade. I am honoured to be taking over as TCAF chief steward and look forward to working with the TCAF team, volunteers, and board to continue TCAF's tradition as an accessible indie show with international appeal that reflects the vital importance of the comic arts."

President of the TCAF Board, Peter Birkemoe, says, “The board is incredibly excited that Amie Wright has accepted the position of Executive Director. We can’t wait to start the next phase of the organization’s development under Amie Wright’s guidance and direction.”

Outgoing Executive Director Miles Baker adds, “I’m very excited about Amie’s upcoming tenure with the organization. We’ll begin our  transition period over the next few weeks as we turn our full attention to the 2025 festival.” Baker has served as TCAF’s first Executive Director since 2020, and has worked with the organization since 2009. “I’m very excited to attend as a fan. It’s been a very long time.”
