How old do I need to be to volunteer at TCAF?

There is no minimum age to volunteer at TCAF, however if you are under the age of 12 at the time of the festival, you will be asked to sign up alongside an adult to work as a team.
 

I have accessibility needs/neurodivergence that could affect how I contribute to TCAF. Can I still volunteer?

Of course! We are always excited to have volunteers of all abilities. There are many different kinds of festival tasks required throughout the weekend and we will work together to find one that best fits with your abilities. If you want to share your accommodation needs with TCAF staff before the festival, there is a space to do so in the volunteer sign-up form.

Volunteers are also encouraged to take breaks and request help as needed during their shifts to ensure that the experience is enjoyable for all.
 

Do TCAF volunteers get special access to restricted TCAF programming?

No, TCAF volunteers don’t get special access to restricted TCAF programming. If you are on shift while the programming is going on, then you may be too busy to attend. If you are off shift, then you are able to enjoy the festival as a regular attendee. If there is programming you are particularly excited about, let us know so we can switch you off that shift so that you can attend.

TCAF volunteers do get a special TCAF volunteer T-shirt to wear during the weekend, and to take home after as a souvenir.
 

Why are we at a new location (Mattamy Athletic Centre) instead of at the Toronto Reference Library like previous years?

The Toronto Reference Library is gearing up for some exciting new construction projects that will take over the space for several years. For now, the Mattamy Athletic Centre (50 Carlton St.) will be our new home!
