French Comics Framed Exhibition
May 2nd to May 31st, 2017
@ Toronto Reference Library, Browsery, 789 Yonge Street
Free to attend
After its kick off in New York last fall, the French Comics Framed Exhibition is coming to Toronto in May 2017. From much-loved icons to cutting-edge graphic novels; from masters of sci-fi to sociopolitical documentaries, this exhibition aims at showcasing the wonderful diversity of the Francophone bande-dessinée.
25 boards from the original New-York based exhibition will be displayed in the Browsery of the Toronto Reference Library, throughout the whole month of May 2017. The exhibition presents a selection of graphic novel illustrations from Francophone works, including the three French authors who will be at TCAF this year: Pénélope Bagieu, Sandrine Revel and Marcelino Truong.
Most of these works have attracted Canadian and U.S. publishers’ attention, have been translated into English and are available in the Library’s collections.
Come and meet – or see again – famous characters such as Astérix to bestselling series including Blacksad and The Rabbi’s Cat, and dive into stunning pictures of iconic cities and imaginary worlds!
French Comics Framed is led by the French Comics Association, in partnership with the Centre National du Livre, the Bureau International de l’Édition, the Syndicat National de l’Édition and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in Canada and in the U.S. An event of The Toronto Comic Arts Festival.
