May 11: Artists' Field Trip to the Royal Ontario Museum

Events

Artists’ Field Trip to the Royal Ontario Museum
with Rachel Kahn
Thursday May 11th, 1pm till 5:30pm
@ the ROM! (www.rom.on.ca)
Admission: $20
RSVP to Rachel (rachel@portablecity.net) by May 3rd

Rachel Kahn, a cartoonist who also teaches at the ROM, will introduce everyone to the museum, give a quick tour of a few of her favourite things to draw, and then be available for questions and directions while attendees can go off on their own to enjoy the collections.

We’ll have use of portable stools provided by the museum, and can bring sketchbooks, dry media and small watercolour or gouache kits (used with waterbrushes) into the majority of the collections. We’ll be sure to visit the dinosaurs, the biodiversity gallery, the Greek statue hall and the ROM’s magnificent gems and minerals collection, and that’s just a small sampling of what the ROM has to offer!

There is a cafe and deli in the museum basement, and a lunch room for anyone who would like to bring their own food, and it’s walking distance from several pubs and restaurants, and a Second Cup cafe. Come out for a relaxing and inspiring visit to one of Toronto’s oldest museums, and one last quiet drawing moment before the amazing whirlwind of TCAF starts up!

Admission is $20 each, please bring cash to pay on the day. This is for the general collections – if you are interested in seeing the ROM Blue Whale special exhibit you’ll be able to upgrade your ticket easily at the museum admissions desk. We’ll be meeting out front of the main doors (under the Crystal, on Bloor Street at Avenue Road) by 1pm. The ROM is an accessible venue – detailed accessibility information can be found at www.rom.on.ca/en/visit-us/accessibility

Please RSVP by emailing rachel@portablecity.net with subject TCAF ROM Field Trip by May 3rd – if we have enough folks RSVP then we can access discounted group admission rates.
